Chapter 376: New Uses for Stinky Tofu and Eggs +1
"Why must you insist on opposing them? Out of sight, out of mind..." Gu Shanhai complained.
After the two of them had arrived at the island, they had started to purchase supplies. This time, Wang Qi had brought Gu Shanhai along; otherwise, letting him handle it alone could have resulted in something being overlooked.
Then, a typical hero saving a damsel in distress scenario triggered. The appearance of the woman aside, the fact that she was being pursued by the Godslayer Alliance meant she definitely harbored a significant secret.
She was still unconscious. Wang Qi, adhering to his principle of saving a life through to the end, had stashed her on the ship and was taking care of her.
"The Godslayer Alliance is after her. There must be some secret that others don't know," Wang Qi said calmly.
"Are you sure it's not because you're attracted to her looks?" Gu Shanhai teased.
"What are you thinking? I'm only fourteen," Wang Qi said somewhat speechlessly. Even if he looked almost like an adult due to his overconsumption of dark cuisine, he was still only fourteen.
"I've heard a saying: an older woman is a treasure to hold," Gu Shanhai remarked.
"I'm not about to fall for an old auntie, come on, be reasonable," Wang Qi retorted.
Right, the woman he rescued was at least 40+, and even with good maintenance, one could guess her age; perhaps her daughter or son was even older than Wang Qi.
"Then maybe you just have a bad stomach; there's always a label that suits you," Gu Shanhai chuckled.
"I... forget it, I'm not going to argue with you. She seems to be waking up," Wang Qi noticed something and hurried over to check.
The woman had indeed awakened, looking somewhat alert and confused.
"Auntie, you're awake. Have some warm soup to heat up," Wang Qi said as he entered, handing her a bowl of soup made with ginger and garlic.
"Auntie?" The woman looked a bit puzzled but accepted the soup and asked, "Where is this?"
"On my boat. Weren't you being chased by people from the Godslayer Alliance?" Wang Qi helped her recall, then added, "I just happened to help you out."
"I see. I would like to ask for your help; could you take me to Wangjing Island?" she asked hopefully.
Hearing this, Wang Qi's smile did not change, but he inwardly disdained the request; she really was pushing her luck. She wasn't willing to say anything, not even introducing herself, and yet she expected his help — how impolite.
"Sorry, my boat doesn't pass by Wangjing Island. If you like, I can ask other ships for you?" Wang Qi tactfully declined.
The woman seemed not to detect the refusal and said gravely, "No, Wangjing Island has been sealed off by the Godslayer Alliance. If the news leaks, it could lead to trouble. Only you can help me."
Wang Qi inwardly cursed. Being sealed off meant trouble was already brewing, and yet, she wanted him to go back with her—essentially dragging him into potential death.
"May I ask indiscreetly what exactly happened?" Though not entirely unreasonable, Wang Qi would consider helping if she provided a solid explanation.
"This matter is too significant—you're better off not knowing, to avoid getting involved," she thought she might have convinced Wang Qi, but she didn't answer his question.
At this, Wang Qi inwardly exclaimed in frustration. Did she really think ignorance would prevent involvement? He would be taking someone he saved directly to an island sealed off by the Godslayer Alliance and she expected no consequences? This was clearly leading him to his unwitting doom.
'Hey, Wangjing Island? I know that place well,' Gu Shanhai's voice popped into Wang Qi's mind.
Wang Qi, aware of Gu Shanhai's abilities, asked inwardly, 'Is there a secret there? Is it worth the Godslayer Alliance sealing it off, or is this woman deceiving me?'
'Not much of a secret, just that my original body is sealed there,' Gu Shanhai replied.
Hearing this, Wang Qi understood; this secret alone could turn the tide.
'Could I use this woman to retrieve your original body?' Wang Qi pondered if it was feasible, he would help Gu Shanhai first.
'What do you want my original body for? After me, it's just like a lump of flesh. Are you planning to slice a bit off for cooking?' Gu Shanhai thought the kid was seriously audacious, not realizing his own limitations, blatantly opposing the Godslayer Alliance openly was simply suicidal.
"How are you considering it?" The woman thought Wang Qi was contemplating how to deliver her, unaware that he was communicating with Gu Shanhai.
"Not very well," Wang Qi bluntly refused, having confirmed after speaking with Gu Shanhai that her likely goal was indeed Gu Shanhai's original body.
And as Gu Shanhai himself had said, his original body was useless without him, effectively worthless, so Wang Qi's opinion of the woman dropped substantially.
He and Gu Shanhai were both teacher and friend; how could he feel positive about a stranger scheming against his friend?
"I already conflicted with the Godslayer Alliance by saving you. Now you want me to take you to Wangjing Island, which has been sealed off, and you say it won't involve me further? Do you even believe that?" Wang Qi felt the woman was pretending ignorance.
"I... I mean, you just shouldn't know the secret," the woman insisted through gritted teeth.
"I don't want to know your so-called secret, nor do I want to go to Wangjing Island, so can you leave?" Wang Qi stated calmly.
