Chapter 387
Miss Lucy and Miss Mary, the two caretakers of the orphanage were with the children outside the house beside the main house that they were using. The twins, Isaac and Aaron, and Liriel were also with them. Mark was cleaning up the house inside and there was a lot of noise that made the two ladies apprehensive but excited all of the children.
Mark looked at his handiwork after destroying the walls inside the house. Now the house looked like a warehouse. The next thing he did was to summon large tubs of water, plenty of soap and scrubs then use his powerful telekinesis spell to scrub every inch of the place with soapy water and after a few minutes, everything was clean.
Although the house’s floors and walls were still old and could use a little fixing, everything was spick and span. Then Mark replicated a lot of shelves and placed them evenly inside the house. He was enjoying the process of arranging everything to look like a supermarket. Then he filled the shelves with different products that had very long shelf lives. There was a section for various canned goods like canned meat, sardines, tuna, canned fruits, and vegetables, and more. Beside that section, Mark filled the shelves with vacuum-sealed dried goods like dried fruits, dried nuts, and dried meat jerky.
Mark went to another section and filled the shelves with various flavored instant noodles placed inside huge plastic boxes that could be covered anytime by the plastic box lids to prevent pests from getting at them. After a thought, he went back to the dried products section and did the same thing of placing them inside huge plastic boxes with lids.
The good thing about his replication skill, Mark just needed to fill boxes with the various items and then replicate the boxes themselves just like what he was doing when replicating items that Milena and the others were selling in their stall.
After Mark was done with the instant noodles, he then replicated sauces and spices and put them in another section. He was enjoying filling up the sections with the product since it felt like he was playing a Sims game of creating a supermarket.
Another section was filled with different grains like rice, oats, wheat, and pasta noodles. Mark thought that it was a pity that he couldn’t put food items with short shelf life since with them on the shelves, the place would look like a proper supermarket.
As a final touch, Mark put various toys in one section to make the place livelier. Looking at his handiwork, he was a bit proud since the whole place now looked like a supermarket. The only problem was the only lighting was from the wide windows and that meant that the two ladies and the children from the orphanage could only shop in the supermarket during the day but of course, they could bring lamps with them when the sun set. He wondered if this project would cause problems to the orphanage so he planned to talk to the ladies about the possible repercussions of this little project and talk about possible solutions.
After inspecting every inch of the house now filled with different goods, Mark went outside.
“Ladies let’s go ahead and enter the orphanage supermarket! I’ll explain to you all the items on the shelves and how to use them best and then after that we will need to talk regarding this project since it got away from me and I think I overdid it. Now, kids, you can join us but you have to be well-behaved okay?!”
All the children shouted okay including the twins and Liriel then they all followed Mark inside the house. Everyone gasped when they saw the changes that happened inside the house turned supermarket. They walked slowly while Mark introduced the products and gave detailed instructions on how to use them.
“Sir Mark, wait! I need to go back and get something to write with!” Miss Mary said obviously very flustered while looking at the huge amount of items on the shelves.
Mark said that she didn’t need to and provided Mary with a notebook and a pen. They then continued touring the shelves one by one while Mary was writing non-stop. Since it was taking them a very long time, the kids got bored so Mark asked the twins to lead the children to the toys section and stay there until he and the two orphanage caretakers were done so all of the children ran off.
Mary and Lucy had so many questions about the different items and how to use them that it actually took them three hours before they completed touring the whole place.
“Miss Mary, can we have dinner here? It’s getting late and once we arrived back at the circus the sun would have already set,” Mark asked the ladies and they agreed immediately.
“I will go ahead and cook so it’ll probably be a while before dinner is ready,” Mary said while she started looking at the items on the shelves as if choosing what to cook.
“Miss Mary, you don’t need to cook. I already have dinner prepared for everyone, so let’s go to the dining room and lay down the food there so everyone can eat.”
When Mark and the two ladies went to the kitchen, the kids were about to follow them but Mary told them to wait in the living room and they would all be called once the food was ready. Since the children were holding onto different toys, they continued playing and waited to be called.
Mark then replicated food that could be cooked using the ingredients in the house slash supermarket beside the orphanage like spaghetti and pizza. He told Mary how to create them and Mary was frantic in writing the instructions on how. He also replicated chocolate cakes and told Mary how to make them using the ingredients in the supermarket but looking at Mary who was frantically writing and on the verge of tears he laughed.
“Miss Mary, you don’t need to be too frantic. I’ll teach you to cook them at a later time so let’s enjoy dinner for now.”
Mark looked at Mary who had a relieved expression on her face calling the kids and when the children arrived, he helped the two ladies give food to the kids and soon everyone was enjoying their dinner.
He then served the children some fruit juices and told Mary how to use the fruit mix in the supermarket to create fruit juices.
While everyone was eating, Mark talked to Lucy about the supermarket.
“Will it cause issues for the orphanage?”
“This is a tiny town Sir Mark and we know each other here so I’m sure that as long as we’re quiet about it, we will not encounter any issues. I will also make sure that the children will not spread it around and I’m quite sure that they will be responsible since all of us know that if the things here were taken by others because of them spreading it to others, it will break their hearts.”
“We will be staying in town for some time so if you need assistance from me, have someone look for me in the circus,” Mark told the old orphanage caretaker.
Miss Lucy said that she would and thanked him again for everything he had done for the orphanage and he replied that it was a pleasure for him to help the orphans since he was one as well.
