Chapter 42 – Training! Making All Spells Chantless
[Chapter Size: 1813 Words.]
Lucius POV
Guild, Babel Tower.
...
...
After leaving that room, I headed straight to the guild's exit. All the groups had split up after I was called in for a 'testimony,' as it just happened; everyone went in opposite directions. Bell and Lili returned to the church accompanied by Riekling, so I went in that direction.
After finally arriving at the location, I went straight to my bed, wanting to rest for a few more hours, not caring that the sun was still in the middle of the sky.
When I woke up, I noticed I was alone in the place with Riekling. Hestia and the others had gone to Mama Mia's Hostess of Fertility to drink and celebrate. No one invited me because I was resting, and I personally asked Riekling to prevent anyone from disturbing my sleep, but I wouldn't have gone anyway; I have other plans.
I wrote a note saying I would go back to the dungeon again and spend some time adapting to level two. I grabbed some valis bags from under the bed, as I didn't want to wait until the next day to buy materials. Since it was night, there were no open places that met my demands. Even if I would spend more in Rivira, I had a lot of money saved in the last month.
So, I left the church ready to go back to the dungeon again. I wouldn't like to stay in Orario for the next few days either. It would be good to train my magic to get their rewards and acquire more points and new spells in the meantime.
Passing through the dungeon hall, I received some looks that recognized the 'Adventurer with the support goblin' and now known as the 'Adventurer who destroyed part of the eighteenth floor.' Ignoring the glances, I dove into the dungeon.
It was only after 8 hours, running through the floors with Riekling, that we reached Rivira again. The first thing I did, aside from ignoring the looks I received when I arrived in the city, as I am more famous here than in Orario, was to go straight to some supply stores.
"Hey, young man!" As I walked, I heard a voice calling me, causing me to turn to the source of the voice. It surprised me that it was the man who owned that inn I destroyed.
"Hello?" I said curiously, wanting to know what he wanted with me now.
"Thank you for helping with that monster," he finally said.
After bidding farewell, I restocked my supplies in the city, still under the gaze of the people. But I thought it was better than dealing with those eyes than those on the surface, so I chose to pay more here in Rivira as another reason to come here.
After putting everything in Riekling's bag, which is the main reason people know me because no one says, 'Look there, the adventurer with a star drawn on his forehead.' Everyone knows me as 'The adventurer who walks with a tamed goblin as his support, the only one in Orario.' I couldn't blame people for thinking that way; Riekling is unique.
After finally escaping people's attention, I found a place on the floor and practiced my spells without fighting on the lower floors. If I wanted to replenish my supplies with more money, I could simply go down to the eighteenth floor and get more magic stones after depleting my stocks in the next few days."
"While preparing for the next few days, setting up a new camp further away from Rivira or the place where the Loki family settled, I was thinking about Riviera's proposal for arcane arts lessons. She mentioned that I could go to the Twilight Mansion to seek her guidance, but I hit the 'screw it' button on that.
I need to get stronger before the War Game; I realized I can't wait for things to happen according to my canonical knowledge. I trusted that, and we almost died when a second Black Goliath appeared a few days ago in this location, I said, looking at the huge crystal in the distance that was embedded in the ground like a monument, thanks to me.
'Something tells me the War Game against Apollo won't be as simple as I imagine,' I thought. 'So let's get stronger, let's train!' I said to myself with enthusiasm.
I spent the next hours of the day casting the space spell, Swift Dodge. Having it execute with just my thoughts would be a great addition and advantage in battles to avoid enemy attacks or even death. I didn't forget to summon a flaming Atronach and activate my aura as well to reap the rewards of these two spells; I had to keep them on for 200 hours each...
The Atronach was a kind of woman surrounded by fire due to her curves and delicate way of moving or attacking, but nothing attractive since her face and body were made of flames... I ignored my summoning and focused on my tasks.
12 hours later, I opened the system.
[Swift Dodge Mission (Rank 3): Cast 10,000 Swift Dodges, Rank 3: | Chant: "Space Spell, Swift Dodge!" | {Progress: 8,640/10,000 - (86%)} | {Reward: The User Can Use the Spell Without Chanting.}]
I shouted the spell's name every 5 seconds for 12 hours without stopping. My endurance is quite high now, so I no longer have the throat problems I had at the beginning. But I was forced to drink 4 liters of water as soon as I finished. Riekling had already prepared the camp and food for us during this time, so I went to rest and sleep for a bit.
'A little more practice tomorrow, and I'll move on to train another spell. I plan to get them all without chanting before going to the floors of the Great Waterfall. If there's a monster rex there, I might even face it alone. If I pick up a few other spells in the next few days, like offensive spells of 1 million points, I had a Rank 3 spell card, but I was still saving it for later use. For now, I'm focusing on training the current missions.
The next day, I woke up and went to train again.
2 hours later.
[Swift Dodge Mission (Rank 3): Cast 10,000 Swift Dodges, Rank 3: | Chant: "Space Spell, Swift Dodge!" | {Progress: Completed - (100%)} | {Reward: The User Can Use the Spell Without Chanting.}]
"That's great! Now let's move on to healing!" I said after drinking a little water and turned my attention to another spell. Even without injuries, I could still cast it."
"I spent 20 hours non-stop shouting my spells, choosing the three least flashy ones first. I completed the following in the next few hours:
[Minor Healing Mission (Rank 2): Cast 5000 Minor Healing Rank 2: | Chant: "Minor Healing!" | {Progress: Completed - (100%)} | {Reward: The User Can Use the Spell Without Chanting.}]
[Lightning Weapon Mission (Rank 3): Cast 5000 Lightning Weapon Rank 3: | Chant: "Lightning Spell, Lightning Weapon!" | {Progress: Completed - (100%)} | {Reward: The User Can Use the Spell Without Chanting.}]
[Ironflesh Mission (Rank 3): Cast 5000 Ironflesh Rank 3: | {Progress: Completed - (100%)} | Chant: "Alteration Spell, Ironflesh!" | {Reward: The User Can Use the Spell Without Chanting.}]
After only 4 hours of sleep, I continued the rhythm the next morning.
Unfortunately, I didn't have a spell to make an area silent, something I saw in the shop like [Alteration Spell/Sound Barrier/Rank 3: 300,000] (Creates a spherical barrier up to 5 meters in diameter against sound). It's a spell I wish to get later. I say this because I started training the noisier spells now. Fortunately, no one bothered me these days; I was in the farthest place from Rivira possible. I believe, for them, it was like small echoes heard from a distance, nothing they should be bothered by.
[Multi-Firebolt Mission (Rank 3): Cast 10,000 Multi-Firebolt Rank 3: | Chant: "Fire Spell, Multi-Firebolt!" | {Progress: Completed - (100%)} | {Reward: The User Can Use the Spell Without Chanting.}]
[Minor Gravitational Field Mission (Rank 3): Cast 10,000 Minor Gravitational Field Rank 3: | Chant: "Gravitational Spell, Minor Gravitational Field!" | {Progress: 4,420/10,000 - (44%)} | {Reward: The User Can Use the Spell Without Chanting.}]
On the next day:
[Minor Gravitational Field Mission (Rank 3): Cast 10,000 Minor Gravitational Field Rank 3: | Chant: "Gravitational Spell, Minor Gravitational Field!" | {Progress: Completed - (100%)} | {Reward: The User Can Use the Spell Without Chanting.}]
Seeing that I had my most powerful spells completed, I was relieved. Still, I did it with the smaller ones as well because I could still cast 8,000 spells by the end of the day. I didn't do it out of necessity, just for the luxury of it; in a way, it bothered me to have to speak and chant the spells every time I used them.
[Lightning Weapon Mission (Rank 2): Cast 5000 Lightning Weapon Rank 2! | Chant: "Lightning Weapon!" | {Progress: Completed - (100%)} | {Reward: The User Can Use the Spell Without Chanting.}]
[Magelight Mission (Rank 2): Cast 2000 Magelight Rank 2: | Chant: "Magelight!" | {Progress: Completed - (100%)} | {Reward: The User Can Use the Spell Without Chanting.}]
[Clean Clothes Mission (Rank 2): Cast 1000 Clean Clothes Rank 2: | Chant: "Clean Clothes!" | {Progress: Completed - (100%)} | {Reward: The User Can Use the Spell Without Chanting.}]
[Repair Clothes Mission (Rank 2): Cast 1000 Repair Clothes Rank 2: | Chant: "Repair Clothes!" | {Progress: Completed - (100%)} | {Reward: The User Can Use the Spell Without Chanting.}]
I went to bed satisfied this day, only my spells with time requirements were left, where I had to leave them cast, running for 8 days straight.
Sleeping only 4 hours for the last 5 days, I couldn't leave the Flame Atronach as a permanent summon like Riekling as long as I'm undefeated because it seems there's no advantage for combat summons, only for support class; Riekling may have a spear, but he's practically useless beyond the first floor to support me in battles.
- [Conjure Flame Atronach Mission (Rank 3): Keep Conjure Flame Atronach Rank 3 active for 200 Hours! | Chant: "Conjuration Spell, Summon Atronach!" | {Progress: 94/200 - (47%)} | {Reward: The User Can Use the Spell Without Chanting.}]
- [Minor Magical Aura Mission (Rank 3): Keep Minor Magical Aura Rank 3 active for 200 Hours! | Chant: "Magic Spell, Minor Magical Aura!" | {Progress: 94/200 - (47%)} | {Reward: The User Can Use the Spell Without Chanting.}]"
