Beyond SSS-Rank After Getting The God System

Chapter 153: Ascension Dinner Part 1

After another hour of prep, Carl sighed. "This place is getting to be too small for us all, Tiamutael, do you think you could make it so the inside of the house is slightly bigger on the inside than the outside? If we build anymore we're going to become an eyesore on the landscape."

"Sure Dad, If it's just this room being changed that's fine, but anymore and it will cause spacial distortions."

"Then if you'd kindly, we can make this place more welcoming for large groups and prevent Ki-ko convincing you to give her an infinite bedroom all in one go."

Kitsunoko looked at them with the expression of one watching dreams they didn't even know they had shatter before them.

When they were done however, she was happy to just have more room to run around, until Raziel gave an exasperated sigh and held up her sister's tail comb and patted the floor in front of where she was sitting.

"I can't believe how well she has wrapped Ki-ko round her finger."

"You sure? Honestly I don't know which of them is being manipulated."

"I think it might actually be Tiamutael, he needs a brother to back him up." Klaire said, as she noted him occasionally helping them drink, then looking to Squidge and realising that Squidge was being used as a cool cushion by Levi. "...Our boys are severely outnumbered."

"...I think they used to call people like that "whipped" or "Castrated"... Something like that." Lillim said, genuinely trying to remember the phrase she'd reduced many to admitting themselves guilty of.

"We just love our sisters..." Squidge claimed a little too defensively to be convincing.

"It's this or hyper Ki-ko, then sad Ki-ko when she gets told off, then clingy Ki-ko when we try to cheer her up."

"Goodboy, let's keep the emotional whiplash to a minimum."

At that point, a portal opened and Bahamut stepped through with their guest and a woman they didn't know.

Then Carl had Tiamutael bring over Sis and Omedra, for introductions.

"First of all, apologies for trespassing in your realm before. We meant no offence, I just needed to prepare myself for facing the variants controlling the humans.

My name is Carl Bashe-Reaga, this is my wife Klaire and you probably know my fiancé to some degree."

"Think nothing of it, it was interesting watching how quickly those creatures took to you, they aren't known to be particularly approachable.

My name is Illum and this is my bodyguard and wife Eldorlora. It is as much a pleasure to meet you as it is a surprise to hear a celestial fox committing herself and see a kitsune child sit so placid and...

Apologies, I know Lillim, Tiamat and Bahamut. Faylorna is known but we have never met, but I'm not familiar with the two species over there or the children."

"Right, those are our children, I created them all but they bare our name and consider us parents.

The puddle is Squidge, our eldest and the first creature I ever created; A gluttonous-slimedra.

The one cooling herself on him, is Levi, our eldest daughter and the second I created.

Then would be Kitsunoko, the first of the new Kitsune after I brought them back from extinction and I'll apologise for any mischief.

Omedra, who we brought in with my sister Sis..."

"...Who I have decided to make my heir, now that she is immortal." Tiamat interrupted.

"Then we have Tiamutael, who is a dragon-god hatchling and our youngest son.

Finally is Raziel, our youngest daughter and a blessing that can keep her sister in line."

Illum chuckled. "An interesting family to be sure. The one you call your sister though, I'm confused. I sense aspect energy from her, diluted but unmistakable, yet you are certainly human."

"You aren't wrong, my sister is a newborn construct/aspect hybrid, but we have been together since day one. Not to be rude or evasive, but it is an incredibly personal matter and one we haven't had time to digest ourselves since ascending earlier. If you wish to help with that, we'd be more than happy to, but I'd ask you to sign a secrecy contract."

"You mean her lineage only became known earlier?..." Illum looked back to Eldorlora, face clenched with curiosity.

"Go ahead dear, with the crowd gathering under this young man, I'm inclined to trust him that much at least."

"I'm delighted to hear you feel that way about my fiancé, but we should eat first. The children must be starving after the day they've had."

"Of course, it would be rude to let you're effort be wasted and cruel to make the children wait."

As the children's table was reestablished and they dug in, the parents watched with smiles on their faces before focusing on their own.

As Carl cut some of the meat on his plate and was about to put it in his mouth he suddenly got distracted. "Do we even need to eat anymore?"

"Yes, you do. Whilst you have ascended your body has not reached its prime. That means we need to make sure you stay properly nourished so as to not see your development stunted." Lillim said to the same effect of any grandma telling their grandchild they look skinny.

"The mother of demons playing the matron?" Illum stated in further confusion.

"No, the mother of demons having an exceptional grandson worth worrying about. Let's leave it at that for now."

The dinner was finished in silence where the adults were concerned, tense not with hostility, but Illum's knowing every topic was wetting his appetite for knowledge more than the food and not wanting to insult the fascinating new immortal family he had become accidentally acquainted with.

When they turned back to the children and saw Raziel wiping Ki-ko's mouth as she rocked her chair back and forth holding her stomach, both of their restraint faltered and they asked for the contract immediately.

As they both signed, their first question was simple.

"Kyubi, since when do celestial foxes sit at a table of many and have eyes for only two?"

"Since I found two better than any others, I have two loves that fill my days with joy and comfort and wonderful children that leave me fulfilled and hopeful for the future. I love my life and will change anything that threatens it, including the reputation my kind earned, that version of our species is died with them."

The two elven gods looked at each other and nodded, then moved onto the second question, that of Carl and Sis' origins.

"It's a tender subject for carl and a fresh wound for Sis, so this will be all we say on the subject for now. Carl and Sis are the children or creations of Margo and or Ishtar and or the human woman he took as his second wife." Lillim said firmly, making them squirm.

Carl sighed. "I don't like people making out that either of those two are my parents, but if you want to discuss it more, then Nergal might be better at explaining it. Samael seems to know something as well, but he can't really be approached for casual discussion just yet."

"Indeed, I'll invite Nergal over to our realm at some point and discuss it with him, but why use the word "yet" in reference to the lightbringer?"

"Because he turned his back on Eckro and I'm gonna punch him with a fist full of traitor's ice. I can't stand people turning their backs on family, just because they disagreed doesn't give him the right to lock his kid away in Cocytus."

"Carl, it's grand indeed to use your power to uphold your personal morals, especially when that leads you to act on behalf of others. I must warn you though, that "punching him with a fist-full of traitor's ice" will be far easier said than done. Traitor's ice isn't something that can be he-"

Carl changed into his traitor's ice-form. "Traitor's ice isn't the issue, the issue is that I need to get strong enough to last long enough to throw the punch. Grandma's going to help me, but that hardly helps me not die, I've seen the power he had on incursion-day and can only imagine he's vastly more powerful."

Illum nodded as Carl changed back. "How is it you came to possess Cocytus' unique divinity?"

"No such thing, divinity is divinity. Just because our personalities alter how it naturally exists in us as individuals, doesn't mean that effect is unique."

Illum and Eldorlora looked a bit perturbed about a newly ascended immortal deining to educate them on forces they have wielded since before his species had legs and Kyubi explained to kill the tension.

"Carl has the law of Divinity. it's humbling, but even though he's human and a mere eighteen years old, he knows divinity far more intimately than anyone except the fundamental laws and maybe that one."

"incredible, my unique divinity is far from a threat to anyone, could you demonstrate by copying mine?"

"I can..." Carl looked across to the kids table. "...I think we should have desert first though, the kids will truly never forgive you if you make them wait for that."
