Age of Ascension: Forging an Immortal Realm from Nothing

chapter 69 - The Sword Qi Tower! There's Always Tomorrow! (3/4)

The teamwork between his two heroes was absolutely, pornographically perfect. The moment Wu Chi saw the two halves of the Rotting Great-Raven smack into the ground, he let out a sigh so deep it probably rattled his ancestors' bones. A second later, the victory screen popped up.

And that, as they say, was that. The daily monster-piñata party was officially over.
Lin Daiyu floated back down, looking like a battle goddess with a few artistic splatters of monster guts on her clothes.
"Young Master, mission accomplished," she said with a formal little bow, then her voice softened. "Are we done for the day?"

"We are," Wu Chi confirmed.
You could practically hear the collective sigh of relief from both her and the approaching Qin Keqing.
"We finished quite early today. The sisters can finally get a decent rest," Qin Keqing said, a genuine, happy smile lighting up her face.
Wu Chi nodded. "New plan. First, we send out the Roomba to collect all the loot chests. Then, everybody gets a bath, and then we feast."
"Yes, Young Master!" The two women beamed and went to rally the troops.
The battlefield was a goldmine of loot chests. The swamp monsters had been pushovers outside their natural habitat, turning them into walking goodie-bags. The Vanguards and Cultivators hopped off the wall to start the cleanup. Thanks to the [Micro-Cosmos Realm] and its auto-loot function, it was hilariously efficient. Beams of light just shot out and yoinked the chests straight into storage.
Back on the wall, Wu Chi splashed his face with some Moon Essence Liquid. Turns out, moon-blessed water is like a super fancy, magical face wash. Very refreshing. Afterwards, he started sifting through his new pile of rewards. Another SS-rank meant another fat stack of cash to irresponsibly spend.
First up, the new buildings. He plopped down the [Arrow Tower] blueprint and immediately slammed the big, beautiful "+" button. Five-colored light exploded, and a moment later, a brand new tower stood before him. And of course the statue on top was a handsome Daoist priest who looked exactly like him, because why wouldn't it?

[Sword Qi Tower]
Type: Defense Tower
Level: 1 (0/200)
Function: Shoots pure, concentrated badassery (aka Sword Qi)
Attack Range: 1000 meters
Stock: 100/100
Description: A single sword glint freezes nineteen provinces. Eat your heart out.

"Sweet, another damage dealer." Wu Chi nodded sagely and immediately dumped enough resources into it to get it to Level 5.
Next was the [Infirmary]. He didn't desperately need one, but it was {N•o•v•e•l•i•g•h•t} good to have. He found a nice spot for it near the [Mirror Lake] and the [Palace].

Infirmary

He tapped the button, and as the divine light shot off to do its magic, he started walking over to check it out. On his way, he passed by the [Mirror Lake].
What was supposed to be a quiet, serene lake… was a full-blown, chaotic, noisy pool party.
The place was packed with a gaggle of gorgeous women, splashing and laughing, their cheerful voices echoing through the air.
Wu Chi's eyeballs just about popped out of his head. He froze. Some of the women spotted him. The Great Qin Vanguards, being absolute chads, just stared right back, not even a little bit shy. One of them even stood up taller, deliberately flexing her perfect warrior's body at him with a look that was pure, playful defiance. The little Moon Palace cultivators, however, collectively let out a chorus of squeals and ducked under the water, leaving a sea of cute little heads bobbing on the surface, peeking at him with wide, timid eyes.
It was a symphony of feminine beauty in all its forms. In that moment, Wu Chi had an epiphany. This was why "Charm" couldn't be a stat. How in the hell could you quantify this?
"My territory's special trait is the greatest thing in the history of all things," he whispered, a single, manly tear of profound joy rolling down his cheek.
His monkey brain was screaming GO, urging him to walk over and join the fun… but then he saw the pile of discarded, bloodstained armor and clothes on the shore.
Instantly, a bucket of ice-cold reality was dumped over his head.
"Right. Priorities."
"There's always tomorrow…"
