Age of Ascension: Forging an Immortal Realm from Nothing

chapter 6.1 - Step Right Up, Don’t Miss Out! (1/4)

Two [Arrow Towers], one [Forge], and one [Wooden Wall].
Wu Chi hesitated for all of a second.
First, he popped open his [Territory] panel, shuffled his existing buildings into the newly cleared space, and then activated the [Wooden Wall].
Unlike standalone structures, this [Wooden Wall] could be “expanded” during placement. Wu Chi stretched it around all four sides of his 20-by-25-meter plot. At one Void Crystal per meter, the whole damn thing cost him a clean 90 crystals. A wooden gate even popped up on each of the four sides.
The moment he confirmed the placement, the building model in his hand fizzled out of existence. In its place, the actual walls and gates literally sprouted from the earth at the edge of his territory. They stood three meters high and were a solid meter-and-a-half thick, complete with a walkway running along the top.
“Not too shabby.”
Wu Chi’s eyes lit up as he pulled up the stats.

[Wooden Wall] (Per Unit) (+)
Level: 1 (0/10)
Function: All-around protection.
Durability: 300/300
Current Units: 90 (Expandable)
Description: A basic defensive facility, capable of stopping plenty of unwanted guests.

The wall’s stats were definitely a major step up from the flimsy fence.
However, Wu Chi’s gaze was glued to the little plus sign! That eye-catching (+) symbol might as well have been a blinking neon sign screaming at him: It’s cheat-to-win time, baby!
“What’s the cure for my worries? Hacking, of course!”
Wu Chi dramatically wiped a fake tear from his eye and mashed the plus sign.
In an instant, a five-colored divine light flashed, completely blanketing the new wooden wall. It blinked once, and when the light faded, the wall had undergone a grotesque transformation. The entire structure was now pitch black, the wood looking shriveled and dead, like something out of a nightmare. It was fucking ugly.

[Withered Wooden Wall] (Per Unit)
Level: 1 (0/50)
Function: All-around protection.
Durability: 500/500

Current Units: 90 (Expandable)
Enchantment: Wither Curse (Level 1)
Description: Anyone foolish enough to attack this wall will be cursed by the power of wither.

“A hell of a lot more durable! And it’s an enchanted building now.” Wu Chi nodded, thoroughly pleased.
That single enchantment was enough to bump the wall into the ‘rare’ category. If he tried to buy something like this on the open market, it would set him back tens of thousands of Void Crystals, at least!
With that settled, Wu Chi tossed out the two [Arrow Tower] models.
Two identical towers materialized before him. Their stats were bog-standard, nothing worth dwelling on, so Wu Chi just went ahead and smacked the plus sign on both.
Two beams of five-colored light shot out from his body, each one enveloping a tower. Mere moments later, the light dissipated, revealing two radically different structures.
The tower on the left was now a good size thicker, crowned with a rhombus-shaped crystal etched with intricate images of vines.
The one on the right had only changed at the very top, where a life-sized stone statue of a man now stood, holding a massive crossbow.

[Earthvine Tower]
Type: Defensive Tower
Level: 1 (0/200)
Function: Summon Earthvines (10 square meters area, lasts 10 sec.) (Level 1)
Attack Range: 300 meters
Stock: 10/10
Description: The great outdoors, bondage, and S&M.

[Crossbow Tower]
Type: Defensive Tower
Level: 1 (0/200)
Function: Piercing Crossbow Bolt (Level 1)
Attack Range: 500 meters
Stock: 100/100
Description: Punching a hole through solid iron plate mail ain’t a problem.

“One magic tower and one specialized arrow tower!”
Wu Chi gave a slight nod. Checking his [Territory] panel, he placed the [Fireblast Tower] and [Earthvine Tower] in the northwest corner, and the [Fart Tower] and [Crossbowman Tower] in the southwest. This setup of crowd-control-plus-raw-damage ought to maximize their effectiveness.
“Magic types on one side, humanoid statues on the other. Yup.”
Placement complete, Wu Chi peered out over his newly fortified territory and nodded. With the wall providing protection, the towers wouldn’t be easily destroyed, so their damage output was pretty much guaranteed.
The only thing that really irked him was that the humanoid statue on the Crossbow Tower was a fucking spitting image of him.
Which meant, from his point of view inside the base, it looked like one stone “Wu Chi” was bent over with its ass pointed towards the enemy, while another stone “Wu Chi” was aiming a giant crossbow at them…
What the actual fuck!
Wu Chi rubbed his temples, feeling a headache coming on.
At his side, Lin Daiyu had also taken notice of the two towers. A grin spread across her delicate, pretty face, but when she saw Wu Chi’s exasperated expression, she immediately composed herself and smothered the ✪ Nоvеlіgһt ✪ (Official version) smile.
“Whatever. One forge left. Let's just get this shit over with.”
Wu Chi shook his head and chucked the last building model in his hand over the wall. The model billowed out as it flew, growing larger and larger until it landed as a small house with an iron furnace.

Forge

The forge's stats were boring as hell. Wu Chi didn't even bother reading them before hitting the plus sign.
The familiar five-colored divine light washed over it.
A few seconds later, the light faded.
The small furnace house had transformed into a giant, ornate alchemy furnace. And standing right next to it was a humanoid stone statue wearing Daoist robes.
And without a single shred of doubt, the statue looked exactly like Wu Chi!

[Weapon Refinery]

Function: Refine Weapon (1 item per charge)

Description: Low-grade magical artifacts for sale! Wholesale prices! Step right up, step right up, don’tcha miss out!

“FUCK ME, AREN’T YOU SUPPOSED TO BE AN ALCHEMY FURNACE?!”
Wu Chi’s face twitched violently.
