chapter 4.4 - The Rose's Whisper! Time to Farm! (4/4)
....
[The Rose's Whisper]
Type: Toilet
Level: 1 (0/200)
Function: Waste Disposal
Special Trait: Scent of Roses (Level 1: While inside this building, cultivation speed +100%)
Description: A fragrant toilet with an intoxicating aroma.
Wu Chi:
"......"
Holy crap on a cracker!
Goddammit, he thought, his face instantly darkening — I knew I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up! He felt like he was about to cough up blood.
From a purely theoretical standpoint, this toilet was an absolute treasure. At Level 1, it doubled cultivation speed! If the cultivation fanatics out there got wind of this, they'd lose their damn minds!
But... who the hell meditates in a toilet? What kind of cultivator does that? The “Poop Master”? The “Grand Master of the Lavatory”?
“Am I gonna be the first Toilet Sage in history?” He groaned.
“Next thing you know, I’ll be inventing the Poop Dao.”
"Fuck me..."
Wu Chi’s face twitched as he took a deep, steadying breath.
He rationalized to himself:
Okay, look, he reasoned, I haven't even started cultivating yet, and my only subordinate is Lin Daiyu, who isn't cultivating either. So, for now, I can just ignore this... 'feature'.
Hearing this, Lin Daiyu gave a slight nod and said softly,
"Thank you, young master. However... did you bring any seeds?"
"Yep! I packed a bag!" Wu Chi nodded.
It wasn't like newbie lords were going in blind. With all the teachers and online guides available, they had a pretty good idea of what to do. Wu Chi couldn't afford the top-tier gear, but basic supplies like this were dirt cheap. He rummaged in his inventory, grabbed a bag, and pulled out a packet of seeds containing common types like carrots, potatoes, rice, and wheat.
"Hmm... young master, are we short on food supplies?"
Lin Daiyu pondered for a moment before asking another question.
Wu Chi smiled.
"Nah, I brought enough to last a hundred people for a month."
"Then we are sufficient for now. But thinking long-term, if you plan to raise a large army" — the clever beauty gestured towards the [Steelboar Stable] with eyes full of wisdom — "you might ⊛ Nоvеlιght ⊛ (Read the full story) consider planting high-yield crops."
Wu Chi understood immediately. If he didn't acquire a new [Barracks] later, his only option for mass-producing troops would be the "Steelboar." So...
Wait, what the hell do boars eat that's best again? Wu Chi's mind went blank, a cold sweat breaking out on his forehead.
In his previous life, you fed pigs either specialized feed or kitchen scraps. In this world, there were both ordinary and magical feeds available in abundance... but who could have known he'd summon boars?! The food he brought was all measured for human consumption, originally intended for militiamen.
"Young master?" Lin Daiyu, seeing him spaced out, called out quizzically.
"Ah?!"
"Does the young master not know what..."
"Of course I know! We'll plant carrots! Carrots are nutritious!"
Wu Chi declared with a wave of his hand, making the executive decision.
Hearing this, Lin Daiyu's delicate brows furrowed slightly, sensing something was off. But she was a novice in this area too, so she simply buried her suspicion, took some carrot seeds from the packet, and prepared to head to the field.
Seeing her get to work, Wu Chi felt too awkward to just stand and watch. He looked around, snapped off two wooden strips from the fence.
(Durability -2. The Fence: ...)
Then he went over to help.
Now, a standard mu of land could fit 200–300 seeds if planted carefully. (TL note: "mu" (亩) is a Chinese unit of area. 1 mu is approximately 666.67 square meters.)
But Lordly buildings were different; this field wasn't that big.
Plus, since it was [Spirit Field], the process wasn't overly complicated. As they approached, the field itself provided a grid prompt: maximum of 100 seeds.
Wu Chi handed her one of the wooden strips, and together they planted the carrot seeds according to the grid.
Then, Wu Chi pulled a bottle of water from his inventory. Just as he was about to use it, he suddenly remembered the Moonwell!
Would the magical Moonfrost Nectar have an effect on the Spirit Field? he wondered.
Deciding to experiment, he put the water away, fetched a washbasin, and went to the Moonwell.
The well's current stock was 10 (1 stock = 1 ton of water).
As a magical territory building, the [Moonwell] naturally repelled dust, other water, and impurities.
"It generates 1 ton per night, and I can top it up with Void Crystals. Might as well use the good stuff liberally!"
He scooped up a basin of the shimmering liquid and returned to the field.
"Young master, using the Moonwell's water for irrigation... isn't that a bit wasteful?" Lin Daiyu asked, her eyes twinkling with amusement.
"Don't worry about the supply," Wu Chi shook his head.
"Besides, this Moon Nectar is top-tier! I want to see what it can do."
"Very well," she replied, nodding, and helped him water the field.
Soon, the task was complete.
A mist began to rise from the [Spirit Field], swirling around like something out of a celestial paradise. Amidst the clouds and mist, the landscape seemed to shift and shimmer magically.
Seeing this, Wu Chi thought,
The field's special effect is kicking in!
But Lin Daiyu gazed intently at the misty field, murmuring softly,
"It truly resembles an immortal realm... If only Zijuan were here..."
Her voice trailed off towards the end.
Meanwhile, Wu Chi eagerly opened his property panel...
